The Reader Table

How it works

Readers join free. Authors pay a yearly subscription to list books and use author services.

For readers

  1. Sign up and set your languages, genres, preferred lengths and how many books you can read at once.
  2. Optionally fill in How I access books: free copies, Kindle Unlimited, or buying ebooks, print or audiobooks, with a private price range and budget. You can pause these suggestions any time.
  3. Pick a book under Give feedback. You get a deadline and, where the author allows it, a private reading copy.
  4. Answer the guided questions. If the author chose Amazon or Goodreads, you'll be asked for a link to your public review there.

Reading and giving feedback is voluntary and unpaid. Readers don't earn credits, priority or any other reward for reading, buying books or posting reviews.

For authors

  1. Start a paid author subscription. Author features unlock only once payment is confirmed.
  2. Add your book — paste an Amazon or Goodreads link to fill in details, then add the cover and reading copy.
  3. Choose where readers should post public reviews, whether the book is in Kindle Unlimited, and any purchase options.
  4. Use a service credit to request feedback. Matching depends on available readers; we can't promise how many or how fast.

If your paid access ends, your books, feedback and purchased credits are kept, but your listings become inactive and you can't upload, promote or spend credits until you renew.

Free copies, Kindle Unlimited and buying

  • Free reading copy — the author shares a file. Only readers reviewing on Goodreads can download it.
  • Kindle Unlimited — the book is in Amazon's subscription; readers with KU read it there.
  • Buying — the reader buys the book from a retailer. That purchase is between the reader and the retailer, not The Reader Table.
