The Reader Table

Feedback and review guidelines

Three different things

  • Private feedback — your answers to the guided questions. Only the author (and moderators, if a report is made) can read it.
  • Platform reviews — The Reader Table doesn't publish its own ratings or reviews of books.
  • External reviews — reviews you post yourself on Amazon, Goodreads or elsewhere. If the author asked for one, you'll paste the link. What you write is entirely your opinion.

Writing useful private feedback

  • Answer every required question with at least a few sentences: what worked, what confused you, suggestions.
  • Give at least one specific example from the text.
  • Be honest about how much you read. Stopping early is fine — use "Stop" and say why.

External review rules

  • Follow each platform's own rules. Amazon restricts reviews connected to free or incentivised copies; Goodreads asks you to disclose a free copy.
  • Reading copies for download are only offered when the author chose Goodreads. For Amazon, get the book through Amazon (purchase or Kindle Unlimited).
  • Never accept or offer payment, credits or favours for a review.
